Sant Ponç de Corbera is a Benedictine Priory, that was a monastery during the Middle Ages, close to Corbera’s urban area. It seems that the monastery was built between 1030- 1050, but it has been reconstructed many times. In 1992, when the last one reconstruction was made, they conserved its original aspect as we can see nowadays. the building has a single nave covered with a barrel vault, a transept, and three apses externally decorated with arches and pilasters. Two apses are connected by open doors in the walls. It is one of the most important romanesque buildings in Catalonia. Remains of Roman wall paintings are preserved, with plant motifs. It was declared a “Bien de Interés Cultural” site in 1931 (a “Bien de Interés Cultural” is a category of the Spanish heritage register).
