The Cal Ganxo Environmental Activities Center, inaugurated on May 1, 1997, is a municipal facility, depending on the Castelldefels Town Hall, which is located approximately one kilometer from Castelldefels Castle, within the boundaries of the Natural Park of Garraf (from the Network of Natural Parks of the Diputació de Barcelona).

Cal Ganxo carries out educational activities and environmental awareness, knowledge of the natural environment, natural sciences and astronomy (with the collaboration of the Astronomical Grouping of Castelldefels). These actions cover urban ecology, with activities organized for the general public as activities directed at educational centers. Every year, enjoy about the municipal Environmental Education Program (free for schools in Castelldefels) about 7,000 students in the city.

Also from Cal Ganxo, the activities of the Environment Hour, which take place on alternate Wednesdays, are coordinated (see the municipal activities agenda of the main menu) in the Central Library. During the summer, the Environment Hour is transferred to the Carme Romaní Library (beach library).

Its location is only 1 km from the castle of the city, 3 km from the beach and surrounded by an unbeatable natural environment, along with its features, with a large classroom for educational activities, dining room, closed patio and a Astronomical observatory, make it an ideal place to develop the activities that the center itself offers. Cal Ganxo is a gateway to the Garraf Natural Park, from the center there are three itineraries on foot (in La Guixera, Cerro del Fanxó and Cerro del Vinadé) and close by are the collection, the Picnic and Can Roca, the rock climbing area of ​​La Roca Negra and the Pedagogic Garden of La Guixera. Cal Ganxo also offers the hostel service, with 44 places distributed in 3 rooms (18, 18 and 8). This service is currently managed by the Fundació Catalana de l'Esplai.

The public and concerted primary and secondary schools that organize stays in Cal Ganxo can access a subsidy of up to 40% of the cost of the stay, granted by the Diputació de Barcelona
