House Camprubí

On the outskirts of the city stands one of Cornellà's true Modernist landmarks.

It is one of the minor works by the great Modernist architect Jujol, less abundantly expressive than his more famous designs in Sant Joan Despí.

Commissioned by Cebrià Camprubí i Nadal, it was built between 1927 and 1928.

It is made up of the juxtaposition of three quadrangular bodies of different heights, with a smaller cylindrical body abutting the main section.

The windows are arranged asymmetrically, some of them with an overhang, while the roofs are four-sided, with Roman tiling. The overhangs and the cylindrical body are covered with enamelled ceramics in different colours, and mosaics.

One particularly noteworthy feature are the railings made from twisted and knotted bars, a typical feature of Jujol. Among the most distinctive characteristics of the building, linking it in with the Noucentista aesthetic, is its pink stucco background, decorated with engravings of floral and rustic motifs, a reference to the rose-growing business of its owner.
